Fill the Bowl

About the Campaign

Pray Myanmar is a campaign to support 100 children through prayer, service, and giving. Donations fund orphanage and seminary scholarships. The campaign was launched by the Myanmar Impact Team, a group of people with a passion for Myanmar. Most of the Myanmar Impact Team is from Calvary Church in State College, PA.

We work with local leaders who are based in Yangon, the capital of Myanmar. They operate orphanages, a seminary, conferences, and projects to spread God’s love to the people of Myanmar. We communicate with them weekly and visit them periodically to build relationships and check on their progress. 100% of donations go to Myanmar, as we do not keep any donations for overhead costs.

Fill the Bowl

The goal of Pray Myanmar is to fill the bowl. Begging bowls are used by Buddhist monks in Myanmar to beg for rice. One of the leaders we work with is a former Buddhist monk who traded in his begging bowl for following Jesus. (You can read his story here.)  In this campaign, filling the bowl means:

  • Providing food to children and seminary students. $40 per month provides food (and other necessities) to a child living in an orphanage or a seminary student at International Calvary Theological Seminary. Let’s end hunger for the children we support.
  • Praying for Myanmar. Revelation 5.8 talks about Jesus receiving bowls full of prayers. Praying for Myanmar is the most important part of the campaign. Let’s fill the bowl with prayer and see what God does with our prayers.
  • Providing spiritual nourishment to the nation. The orphanages and seminary are evangelizing and discipling the country. New believers are coming into the Kingdom regularly. They’re learning how to love God and live for Him. Let’s be part of the transformation of Myanmar.
